Stepping into a set of electronic drums could not be easier than with the Yamaha DTXplorer electronic drum kit. This is a great entry level electronic drum set that still has many of the great features found in the more expensive models.

The DTXplorer is a five piece electronic drum kit. It includes two cymbals pads, a snare pad, three tom pads, a kick pedal and pad and a hit hat pad.

You can start jamming right away with the 32 factory programmed drum kits or if you want, you can build up to ten of your own drum kits. You have 214 different sounds to choose from. That is quite a bit of sounds. There will be just about anything you need for whatever your music preference or ability might be.

The DTXplorer also has a great feature that will make anyone a better drummer. It has a built in trainer. It will provide you with a click to play along to and when you slip up and get off time your drums get muted until you step back into time. I can think of a few times where I wished a drummer had this ball joint tool, after all timing is everything when it comes to playing the drums.

This Yamaha electronic drum set is built with expansion in mind. It has multi zone inputs. Sounds neat huh! BUt what the hell does it mean? Some drum pads have different areas that produce different sounds, take a snare drum for instance. You can hit the middle, outside or rim to get different sounds, these multi zone pads can achieve this effect and the inputs on the back of the DTXplorer support these multi zone pads.

As with all of the Yamaha electronic drums, hookup is very simple. Each pad is labeled and is simply plugged into the corresponding input on the back of the module.
